Nicole Hayes is an award-winning author and podcaster based in Melbourne, Australia. Her YA novels, One True Thing and A Shadow’s Breath, have won or listed in national awards, including the Ethell Turner Prize, the Children’s Peace Literature Award, and the Australian Children Book Council Awards (CBCA).

She is co-writer (with Adrian Beck) of the first Australian football (AFL) licensed junior fiction series, Little Legends, and is a founding member of the award winning, all-female football podcast and radio show, The Outer Sanctum. She has a PhD in Creative Writing and runs writing workshops for writers of all ages.

After almost a decade living overseas – UK, France, Japan, and Hawaii, respectively - she finally settled in her hometown of Melbourne with her American husband and their two daughters.

When Nicole is not inventing stories about girls and women in unwelcome places, there’s a good chance you’ll find her binging the latest political drama or rom com, or cheering for the Mighty Hawks with her long-suffering Border Collie / Golden Retriever cross, Brody.
