Anne Heltzel

Biography

Anne Heltzel was born in Warren, Ohio. A Notre Dame graduate, she moved to NYC in 2006 to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School. In New York, she found lots of like-minded, creative types. It was home.

It was a natural transition, then, to her first job in book publishing and later to a division of Penguin Young Readers Group, where she now edits young adult novels (with a bunch of fun girls who appreciate dance parties and thrift store shopping as much as she does).

Anne lived in India from September 2009 to December 2010. She hopes to return as soon and as often as possible. She now lives in Brooklyn with her dog, Mochi, who came back with her from India. His name means "cobbler" in Hindi, but it also refers to a gelatinous type of Japanese rice cake, generally filled with ice cream.
