A.E. Cannon

Ann Edwards Cannon was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, but grew up 40 miles south in Provo. When she was six years old, Ann was hospitalized with a serious illness, causing her to miss most of her first grade year. During that time she developed a love of reading and writing—interests which she retains to this day.

Ann graduated from Provo High School and went on to Brigham Young University, where she earned a BA and an MA in English literature. While she was in college, Ann began writing and publishing in a number of local and regional publications. Her first novel, Cal Cameron by Day, Spider-man by Night, won the Delacorte Prize for an Outstanding Young Adult Novel in 1987. Since that time, Ann has published novels for young adult and middle-grade readers, as well as picture books and easy readers. She currently writes a weekly humor column for the Deseret Morning News.

In addition to reading and writing, Ann enjoys gardening, traveling, cooking, knitting, walking the family dog and collecting antique dolls. She is an avid sports fan. Ann is married to Ken Cannon and they have five sons: Philip, Alec, Dylan, Geoffrey and Quinton. She resides with her family in Salt Lake City.
