Carlyn Beccia

Biography

Carlyn Beccia has been making cute and cuddly art since she was an angelic young girl. She attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst on a full academic scholarship and used the money saved on tuition to paint idyllic flower scenes on her walls. Her favorite color is pink and she has an extraordinary fondness for shoes. She has worked as a designer in various advertising agencies for the last 10 years but sometimes returns to her first true love—illustration.

Carlyn is author and illustrator of the Golden Kite Honor Recipient Book Who Put the B in the Ballyhoo? (Houghton Mifflin, 2007) and The Raucous Royals: The True and Untrue Rumors of Kings and Queens (Houghton Mifflin, 2008), which is the was the winner of the IRA's Intermediate Nonfiction Award. Her next book is I Feel Better with Mustard on My Head (Houghton Mifflin, 2010).
